DIETERICH -- Effingham St. Anthony and Dieterich were both winners in junior high girls basketball action Monday.

Dieterich claimed the seventh-grade contest, 19-16. Niemerg tallied eight points while Tegeler added seven for the winners.

St. Anthony was led by Rios and Kabbes with six each.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony captured a 24-15 victory. Maddie Kibler tallied 12 for the Bullpups.

Dieterich was led by Westendorf with six points.

Dieterich won the sixth-grade game, 10-8.

At Newton

North Clay (Louisville) and Jasper County split victories in seventh and eighth grade play Monday.

Jasper County captured the seventh-grade contest, 35-20. Jasper County took a 23-4 halftime lead and never looked back.

Jasper County was led by Mulvey with 15 points. North Clay was led by Karlie Guinn with 10.

In eighth-grade action, North Clay edged Jasper County, 34-32. Jasper County held a 16-15 halftime lead and led 22-17 going into the final period. North Clay came back with a 17-10 run to pull out the victory.

Miah Ballard and Camdyn Tappendorf tallied 10 points each for the winners. Jasper County was led by Barthelemy and Bennett with eight points each.
