Effingham High School graduate Grant Wolfe is headed to Italy.

Wolfe and his Illinois Wesleyan basketball teammates are in Italy on a 10-day trip that will have them playing a series of exhibition games. The squad left Tuesday and will be touring Italy until returning home August 15.

Wolfe, a junior at Illinois Wesleyan, played in 27 games as a sophomore where he averaged 6.5 points and 2.1 rebounds a game. The son of Angie and David Wolfe, is majoring in finance.

Wolfe was a four-year letterman at EHS where he earned IBCA All-State honors as a junior and senior, was named Apollo Conference Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior and ended up as the third leading scorer in EHS history with 1,669. He was valedictorian of his class and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The Titans will open with a game in Rome Thursday then take on Florence/Montecatini Saturday and head to Lake Como for a contest Monday.

The team will also get to sightsee, going to the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Basilica as well as the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum in Rome and other sihgts in Florence, Venice and Tuscany.

The Titans open their season hosting Blackburn Tuesday, November 12.
