Simmons, 76ers Agree To Extension

The Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons have agreed to a 5-year $170 million max contract extension. The Sixers are now poised for a run with Simmons, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid all under contract.


Cavaliers Release J.R. Smith

The Cleveland Cavaliers released J.R. Smith Monday, just before his $15.6 million contract for next season became guaranteed. The Cavaliers had been trying to trade Smith for months, but were unable to put any deal together.


NBA Fines Mavericks Owner

The NBA has fined Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban $50,000 after he admitted to leaking information from last week's Board of Governors meeting to a reporter. The fine was not publicly announced and Cuban told ESPN, "I appreciate the irony of your reporting on a fine that someone should, but won't, get fined for leaking to you."

 

Grizzlies Claim Summer League Title

The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 95-92 Monday night to claim the NBA summer league title. The Grizzlies’ Brandon Clarke was named summer league MVP.
