Girls Basketball Tourney Scheduled

Effingham High School Coach Jeff Schafer has put together a huge girls basketball tournament which gets underway today at four different courts.

The courts in use will be at Effingham High School EHS 1-4, Effingham Junior High School, St. Anthony High School STA 1 and STA 2 and the Ron Diehl Center.

There are varsity, junior varsity and seventh and eighth grade teams competing. Teams are EHS, Effingham St. Anthony, Teutopolis, Altamont, Brownstown/St. Elmo, Dieterich, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, North Clay (Louisville), Sigel St. Michael, Southern Illinois Storm, Salem, Vandalia, Mattoon, Mount Zion, Gillespie, Springfield, Piasa Southwestern, Breese Mater Dei, Robinson, Nokomis, Tuscola, Centralia, Olney, East Alton, Parkview, Chatham Glenwood, Mount Carmel, Moweaqua Central A&M, Edwards County (Albion), St. Mary's and Flora.

There will be a concession stand at EHS along with Jimmy Johns and Ice Cream Truck Toppins out front.

the tournament begins today and runs through Saturday.
