Effingham and Teutopolis will be playing for finals tonight, although at different levels in boys basketball.

The Hearts will be aiming for the Class 3A Olney Regional championship. EHS, seeded sixth, opened the regional with an 82-52 win over No. 12 Mount Zion and then downed No. 4 Olney, 49-41.

EHS is facing Urbana at 7 p.m. today for the regional title. Urbana, seeded No. 1, downed Charleston 82-52 to advance to the championship.

The Hearts sport a 19-12 record while Urbana counters with a 17-14 mark. EHS hasn't won a regional since 2012 while Urbana is much farther back, in 1989.

The winner advances to the Springfield Southeast Sectional next Wednesday against either one of two Apollo Conference rivals of the Hearts, Taylorville and Lincoln who play tonight for the Clinton Regional title.

Class 2A Vandalia Sectional

Teutopolis seeks a trip to the super-sectional at Carbondale with a victory tonight.

The Wooden Shoes stand at 28-5 on the season and will meet Fairfield for the championship of the Vandalia Sectional at 7 p.m. today.

The Mules come into the meeting with a 32-2 record and one of the victories was over Teutopolis. The Wooden Shoes lost to Fairfield (74-64) way back in November at the Capital Classic for the championship.

Fairfield won 11 straight games to start the season before suffering a loss to Casey-Westfield, 60-58. The Mules then went on a five game winning streak before suffering their second loss to Olney, 54-34. Since then it's been 16 straight victories.

The Wooden Shoes have lost only five games and those were to outstanding competition. T-town went down to Fairfield, then fell to Bloomington Central Catholic, 62-48 before going on a 12-game winning streak. The Shoes then fell to East St. Louis, 59-46. They won five straight before dropping a loss to Nashville, 57-39 and then Champaign Central, 51-36. They are now on a five-game winning streak.

The winner advances to the Carbondale (SIU) Super-Sectional Tuesday against either Nashville or Alton Marquette. Those two teams duke it out tonight for the DuQuoin Sectional title.

Class 1A Altamont Sectional

The top two seeds will meet for the championship of the Altamont Sectional. Moweaqua Central A&M, No. 1, will take on Nokomis, No. 2, at 7 p.m. tonight.

The Raiders stand at 30-3 on the season while Nokomis counters with a 28-6 record.

The pair met for the sectional championship at Moweaqua last year with A&M taking the victory, 69-56.
