The first half of Friday night's St. Anthony/Casey-Westfield boys basketball game was close and exciting.

The third quarter was still exciting for Casey-Westfield.

The Warriorrs outscored the Bulldogs 19-6 in that third quarter on the way to a 61-43 win. The Casey-Westfield win spoiled Senior Night at the Enlow Center. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

It was anybody's game through the first half. Casey-Westfield held a 10-8 lead after one quarter, but the Bulldogs got a put-back basket by Kaden Fearday at the halftime buzzer to get St. Anthony with 25-24 at the break.

St. Anthony scored to start the second half and moved ahead 26-25. From then on, though, Casey-Westfield exploded, shooting well, stealing passes and generally making life miserable for the Bulldogs. St. Anthony Coach Cody Rincker used three timeouts in the quarter to try to stem the ride, but the Warriors were up 44-30 at the end of the period.

At one point, St. Anthony got down by 18, but cut it to 11 before Casey-Westfield scored and then got a steal and scored to push their lead back to 15 and that was pretty much the ballgame.

Casey-Westfield, which used its five seniors except for one substitution for a few minutes early in the contest, shot just under 50% from the field, 25 of 51, including 4 of 9 threes. They only took eight foul shots, but made seven of them, turned the ball over eight times and pulled down 27 rebounds.

St. Anthony made 19 of 56 shots, 34%, including 1 of 8 threes. The Bulldogs were 4 of 5 at the line, turned the ball over eight times, and grabbed 25 rebounds.

Jaccob Dust led St. Anthony with 17 points on 8 of 15 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds. Bryson Wall and Logan Antrim each scored 10 points. Also for the Bulldogs: Kaden Fearday 4 and Jack Hoene 2.

Noah Livingston led Casey-Westfield with 18 points, Luke Richards scored 13 points, 11 in the second half, and Marcus Downs and Will Hosselton each scored 11 points. Ethan Gilbert scored 8.

The win gives Casey-Westfield a 25-3 record. Casey-Westfield Coach Tom Brannan said that is a single-season record for victories for the Warriors.

St. Anthony finishes the regular season with a 19-11 record.

St. Anthony won the JV game 67-48. Craig Croy with 21 points and Jack Elder with 14 points led the JV Bulldogs, who finish the season with a 14-2 record. Rece Overbeck, the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Overbeck of Effingham, scored 30 for the JV Warriors.
