Mattoon Girls Basketball Team Out Of Postseason

The Mattoon High School girls basketball team will not be playing in the postseason due to a scheduling problem.

The Green Wave exceeded the maximum number of regular season games allowed by the Illinois High School Association. The maximum number is 31 games but a game that was added in December pushed the total to 32 games and the squad is now ineligible for postseason play.

Mattoon was set to play Paris tonight in the Class 3A Mount Zion Regional but the game has to be forfeited. The Green Wave ends with a 17-15 record and was 7-5 in the Apollo Conference.
