Effingham St. Anthony and St. Elmo/Brownstown moved into the championship game of the Class 7-2A St. Anthony Boys Basketball Regional Monday evening.

Top-seeded St. Elmo/Brownstown handed South Central a 31-17 loss. SEB took a 15-7 halftime lead and had a 16-10 second half.

C. Maxey tallied nine points to lead the winners. South Central was led by Markley with six.

In the second contest, St. Anthony, seeded second, defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 36-12.

The Bullpups led 23-3 at halftime and that was the game. St. Anthony was led by Colin Westendorf with eight points. He led 10 players in scoring.

CHBC was led by Gage Lorton with four. CHBC finishes the season with a 13-12 record.

SEB and St. Anthony square off at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the championship. The winner advances to the North Clay Sectional January 30.

Class 7-1A Pana Sacred heart Regional

Three games were contested at the Pana Sacred Heart Regional Monday evening at Tower Hill.

Findlay Okaw Valley opened the evening with a 39-13 victory over Mulberry Grove.

In the second game, Stewardson-Strasburg pounded Sorento, 69-5. Stew-Stras led 30-0 after the opening quarter and 46-0 at halftime.

Manhart led the winners with 16 points while Bridges added 12 and J. Smith 10. Stew-Stras improves to 8-13 on the season.

The third game went to Ramsey over Pocahontas, 35-24.

Findlay Okaw Valley meets Pana Sacred Heart at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday while Stew-Stras takes on Ramsey at 7:15. The winners advance to the championship game Friday.

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Three games were played Monday evening at the St. Michael Regional.

Mattoon St. John's won the opener 31-28 over Martinsville.

The second game went to Sigel St. Michael who handily downed Windsor, 43-9. The final contest was a squeaker as Kansas edged Effingham Sacred Heart, 23-21.

Mattoon St. John's will face Newton St. Thomas at 6 p.m. today while Sigel St. Michael takes on Kansas at 7:15.

 

Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Neoga advanced after opening round play in the Casey-Westfield Regional.

Neoga handed Oblong a 29-21 loss. In the second game, Paris Crestwood pounded Hutsonville, 53-14 in the opener.

Neoga now meets Dieterich at 5:30 p.m. today followed by Paris Crestwood against Casey-Westfield at 6:45.

 

Class 7-3A Teutopolis Regional

Marshall and Robinson were opening round winners in the Teutopolis Regional Monday.

Marshall won over Jasper County, 40-26. Marshall held an 18-12 halftime lead. Jasper County came back with an 8-7 third quarter but Marshall finished off strong with a 12-9 period.

Wolfe and Flowers led Jasper County with eight points each. Jasper County finished the season at 10-11.

Robinson Nuttall then defeated Red Hill (Bridgeport), 41-20.

Marshall now meets Teutopolis tonight at 6 followed by Robinson Nuttall against Lawrenceville Parkview at 7:15.

Class 7-3A Shelbyville Moulton Regional

Sullivan claimed a 35-19 win over Arthur in the first game of the Shelbyville Moulton Regional Monday.

In the second contest, Paris Mayo downed Cumberland, 47-18.

Sullivan advances to face Tuscola East Prairie at 6 p.m. today while Paris Mayo takes on Shelbyville Moulton at 7:15 p.m.

 

Class 7-4A Effingham Regional

This regional will open play tonight after being canceled Saturday.

Effingham, seeded fifth, will take on fourth-seeded Mount Zion at 6 p.m. followed by third seeded Decatur Jefferson against sixth-seeded Mattoon at 7:15.
