North Clay, Altamont, Neoga Advance at NTC Girls Meet

BEECHER CITY -- North Clay (Louisville), Altamont and Neoga picked up victories at the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament Wednesday evening.

North Clay edged Brownstown/St. Elmo 50-45. The Cardinals edged ahead 18-13 in the opening quarter but BSE came back to knot the score at 25-25 at halftime. North Clay then had a 25-20 second half for the win.

Madison Lovett tallied 21 points while Chloe Lewis added 13 for the Cardinals.

BSE was led by Natalie Oberlink with 18 and Claire Wilhour with 16.

In the second game, Altamont trounced Dieterich 61-11. The Indians took a 38-6 halftime lead.

Nine players scored for Altamont. Leah Mayhaus, a 5-foot-8 senior, led the way with 21 points while Allyson Hardiek chipped in with 12. Mayhaus went over 1,000 points for her career. Altamont is now 21-2 on the season.

Dieterich was led by Meinhart with five.

The final game of the evening went to Neoga over South Central 62-27.

Neoga led 18-6 after the opening quarter and pushed that to 36-14 at halftime.

Four players hit double digits for the winners. Kelsey Partlow and Audrey Ramert scored 13 points each while Kylee Phillips and Mary Hill added 11 each. Ramert pulled down 11 rebounds and had four steals. Hill had 10 boards and Partlow seven rebounds and seven steals. The Indians are 10-14 on the season.

South Central was led by Laney Webster with 10.

Tonight's games feature Dieterich against Brownstown/St. Elmo at 4 and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City facing Neoga at 5:30 in consolation bracket play and Altamont taking on North Clay at 7 and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg meeting St. Anthony at 8:30 in winner bracket action.

The tournament comes to a close Saturday.
