BREESE -- Breese Mater Dei played host to St. Anthony in high school boys basketball action Tuesday evening and sent the Bulldogs home with a 61-48 non-conference loss.

St. Anthony ran out to a 10-4 opening quarter lead as Jaccob Dust scored four and Aaron Webb hit a three-pointer.

The Bulldogs held on to the lead and had a 20-17 halftime tally. Kaden Fearday and Dust scored five points each in that second period.

But, here came Mater Dei. The Knights had a 19-10 third period run as six of their players connected and they took a 36-30 lead into the final quarter.

The Knights kept their momentum with a 25-18 final period for the 13-point victory.

St. Anthony was led by Dust with 21 points and Fearday with 14.

Breese Mater Dei downed St. Anthony 45-33 in junior varsity play.

At Farina

Neoga came calling in a National Trail Conference matchup and downed South Central, 54-45 Tuesday evening.

The Cougars took a 10-5 opening quarter lead but Neoga came roaring back with an 18-4 second period to lead 23-14 at halftime. The Indians and Cougars then played the second half even.

Neoga was led by Chase Banning and Reece Johnson with 18 points each. Banning connected on six three-pointers.

South Central was led by Logan Lotz and Hunter Brandt with 13 points each. The Cougars drop to 1-3 in the conference, 10-8 overall.

At Altamont

Altamont remained unbeaten in the National Trail Conference with a 69-25 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday evening.

The Indians ran off to a 27-4 lead and that was the game. Two players hit double figures for the winners.

Aidan Jahraus tallied 21 points, eight in the opening quarter and 11 in the third period. He hit three trifectas in the game. Alek Biggs scored 16, 12 in the opening quarter run. The Indians improve to 3-0 in the conference, 10-9 overall.

CHBC was led by Eddie Clearwater with six points.

Altamont claimed the junior varsity contest, 67-34.

At Louisville

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took the early lead but North Clay (Louisville) came back to edge the Hatchets, 51-47 in National Trail Conference action Tuesday.

WSS took a 13-10 opening quarter lead but the Cardinals moved ahead 25-23 at halftime. Both teams tallied nine points in the third period. North Clay then had a 17-15 final period.

Three players hit double figures for the winners led by Nick Miller with 18. Tyson Jones chipped in with 14 and Aleon Rinehart added 10. The Cardinals are now 2-2 in the conference, 14-5 overall.

WSS was led by Jackson Miller with 15 points. The Hatchets drop to 2-2 in the conference and 13-7 overall.

North Clay won the junior varsity contest, 60-32.

Cumberland picked up a 64-55 non-conference win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday.

The Pirates jumped out to a 13-3 opening quarter lead when Myles Gerhardt and Butler knocked in a three-point basket each.

The Pirates led 32-24 at halftime but St. Elmo/Brownstown came back to knot the score at 42-42 going into the final period.

Cumberland then had a 22-13 final period, connecting on three trifectas and putting in 13 of 18 from the free throw line. Brennyn Cutts broke loose with a 13 point quarter and finished with 26 to lead the Pirates. Butler chipped in with 12.

SEB was led by Nate Philpot with 20 and Jace McWhorter with 16. Philpot and McWhorter connected on four three-pointers each as SEB finished with 10 for the game.The Eagles drop to 9-9 on the season.
