Lady Bulldogs Pick Up 15th Win

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs picked up their 15th win of the season Thursday night, defeating the Neoga Indians 55-45. The game was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com

Mirroring the St. Anthony/Neoga boys game from Tuesday night, St. Anthony burst out of the starting gate, but the game was fairly even over the final three quarters.

St. Anthony held a 20-10 lead after one quarter, 33-21 at halftime, was up 43-30 after three quarters, and were outscored by Neoga 15-12 in the final quarter to account for the 10-point win.

St. Anthony shot 38% from the field, 21 of 55 including 3 of 11 threes. Neoga shot 35%, 15 of 43 including 3 of 17 threes. St. Anthony made 10 of 13 foul shots to 12 of 20 for Neoga. St. Anthony turned the ball over 14 times to 15 for Neoga, and Neoga outrebounded St. Anthony 32-30.

St. Anthony's Clare McHugh led all scorers with 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Meg Richards scored 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting and 5 of 6 from the line while grabbing a team-leading 8 rebounds. Shea Kinkelaar was in double figures with 10 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Also for St. Anthony: Sydney Gibson 5, Riley Guy 4, and Abby Repking 2.

Olivia Titus led Neoga with 14 points, while Audrey Ramert off the bench just missed a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Also for Neoga: Kylee Phillips and Mary Hill with 6 points apiece with 7 rebounds for Hill, Lydia Gentry 3, and Kelsey Partlow, Molly Sheehan and Calla Hill with 2 apiece.

Neoga will be celebrating 40 years of girls basketball this year. All former players, managers and coaches are invited to a Neoga girls game January 21. Introductions will be made and a photograph of those in attendance will be taken between the junior varsity and varsity games.

St. Anthony is now 15-8 on the season, while Neoga is 9-13. The two teams play each other again Monday night in the first round of the Girls NTC Tournament.

St. Anthony won the JV game 40-18. For St. Anthony: Elizabeth Kabbes 10, Ellie Wegman 9, Kate Hartke 7, Riley Guy 6, Grace Karolewicz 4, and Ada Rozene and Taylor Beesley 2 each. For Neoga: Molly Sheehan and Brooke Rupel 4 each, Audrey Ramert and  Trista Moore 3 each, and Haley Stodden and Kamdyn Dunn 2 each.
