TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham claimed two victories in seventh and eighth-grade boys basketball action Monday over Taylorville.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game, 39-16. EJHS had a 22-12 halftime lead and that was the game.

Raddatz tallied 11 while Rose added 10 for the Mustangs who improve to 7-11.

In eighth-grade action, the Mustangs led by only one at halftime then had a 22-5 final period for a 51-39 victory.

Donaldson scored 17 while Wolfe added 13 and Estrada 10. Estrada and Wolfe led in steals with three each. Pontious pulled down eight rebounds.

At Strasburg

Dieterich and Stewardson-Strasburg split victories Monday evening.

Dieterich picked up the seventh-grade game, 36-28. Dieterich edged ahead by a point at halftime then had a 17-4 third period.

John Holste led Dieterich with 13 points. Stew-Stras was led by Gracey with 16.

Stew-Stras dropped to 5-5 in the National Trail Conference, 6-13 overall.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras was a 44-29 winner.

Stew-Stras held a 28-11 halftime lead. Dieterich came back with an 18-16 second half but it was too little.

Stew-Stras was led by A. Wittenberg with 16 and J. Wittenberg with 10. The Stars improve to 10-0 in the National Trail Conference, 17-1 overall.

Dieterich was led by Kidd with 12 and Britton with 10.

At Strasburg

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis picked up two victories over Charleston.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest, 37-34. T-town led 20-17 at halftime and kept that three point lead the rest of the way.

Joey Niebrugge and Tyler Pruemer led T-town with nine points each.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 46-33 winner. The Shoes led 26-16 at halftime.

B. Niebrugge scored 15 and Goeckner 11 for the Shoes.

At Teutopolis

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed two victories over Ramsey Monday evening.

In seventh-grade action, CHBC was a 39-31 winner. Leading by only two at halftime, CHBC had a 16-10 second half to pull away.

Zander Merrfield led the way with 15 points for CHBC.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC trounced Ramsey, 53-17. CHBC led 24-7 after the opening quarter.

Carter Bain and Trevor Theis tallied 12 points each for the winners.

At Cowden

At Newton

Newton St. Thomas handed Sigel St. Michael two losses Monday evening.

St. Thomas edged St. Michael, 31-27 in seventh-grade play. St. Michael led 11-5 after the opening quarter and the score was tied at 15-15 at halftime. The Sharpshooters then had a 23-20 lead going into the final quarter when St. Thomas went on an 11-4 run to pull out the win.

Bierman led St. Thomas with 12 points. St. Michael was led by Niebrugge with 14.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Thomas won 29-25. St. Thomas led 19-9 at halftime. St. Michael came back with a 16-10 second half but couldn't get over the hump.

K. Bergbower scored 11 for the winners. Tedrick led St. Michael with six.
