DIETERICH -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg captured a 68-58 win over Dieterich in National Trail Conference girls basketball action Monday.

The Hatchets ran off to a 25-15 opening quarter lead behind the scoring of Megan Schlechte and Nikki Trussell. Schlechte hit six field goals that included a three-pointer and two free throws for 15 points while Trussell chipped in with two baskets and four free throws for eight points.

WSS continued its run with a 17-8 second period to lead 42-23 at halftime.

M. Schlechte finished with 22 points while Trussell added 20 and Mikala Nichols tallied 13.

Dieterich was led by Jenny Robards with 12 points and Andrea Bierman with nine.

Connecting on 21 of 26 free throws, Teutopolis High School handed Bethalto Civic Memorial a 58-46 loss in action Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes trailed Bethalto 14-11 after the opening quarter and 26-24 at halftime. But the Wooden Shoes had a 14-8 third quarter run and finished strong, connecting on four field goals and 11 of 13 free throws in the final period.

Three players hit double figures for the Shoes. Sadie Bueker tallied 16 while Olivia Niemerg chipped in with 14 and Morgan Mette added 13. Lexie Niebrugge pulled down five rebounds. M. Mette had five assists. Claire Bushur had two blocked shots.

Altamont pushed its record to 19-2 on the season with a 66-30 non-conference victory over Ramsey Monday.

The Indians put the game away in the opening quarter with a 36-4 run. Eight players scored in the contest and two were in double figures.

Leading the way was Leah Mayhaus with 23 points while Mary Guse added 13. Rachel Jackman was a point away from double figures with nine. Tinley Mette led in rebounds with eight and assists with seven. She also had four steals.

Altamont also nabbed the junior varsity game, 36-19.

North Clay (Louisville) picked up a National Trail Conference victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

The Cardinals stepped out to a 12-5 opening quarter lead. CHBC came back with a 14-13 edge to trail 25-19 at halftime. North Clay then got back on track with a 20-11 third period.

CHBC was led by Jaelyn Robertson with 14 points and Lauren Wojcik with 11. Tabitha Endsley led in rebounds with seven and had two assists and two steals.

Flora played host to Newton and picked up a 44-36 Little Illini Conference victory Monday evening.

The Eagles took an 11-5 opening quarter lead and led 21-12 halftime lead. Flora came back with a 20-4 third quarter to lead 32-25 going into the final period and had a 12-11 final edge.

Newton was led by Allison Harris with nine points and five assists. Brooke Jansen pulled down 12 rebounds and had four steals.

The Eagles drop to 1-4 in the Little Illini Conference, 6-13 overall.

Flora also claimed the junior varsity contest, 36-31.
