Olney Continues Winning Ways With Victory Over St. Anthony

The Olney Tigers are still sitting on just one loss this season after downing the St. Anthony Bulldogs 52-40 Tuesday night at Ron Herrin Gym in Olney. The contest was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.

The Bulldogs led by as many as five points early and trailed the Tigers just 14-12 at the end of the first period, but a 15-6 second quarter left Olney up 29-18 at halftime and the Tigers were never headed.

An 11-11 third quarter standoff left Olney in front 40-29. The Bulldogs were down as many as 16 points early in the period before riding an explosive effort by Jaccob Dust to cut the deficit to seven, but the Tigers were able to build the lead back to 11 by the end of the period.

Olney outscored the Bulldogs 12-11 in the final quarter to win by 12.

Olney shot 46% from the field, hitting 19 of 41 shots including 6 of 11 threes. The Tigers made 8 of 12 foul shots, turned the ball over 12 times but only six times over the final three quarters, and grabbed 27 rebounds.

St. Anthony made just 33% of its shots, 14 of 43 including 4 of 13 threes. The Bulldogs made 8 of 12 free throws, turned the ball over 13 times, and pulled down 30 rebounds.

Dust scored 10 points in the third quarter to finish with 13 points in the contest. He posted a double-double, also grabbing 10 rebounds. Jack Hoene was also in double figures with 11 points. Also for St. Anthony: Luke Ludwig and Kaden Fearday five each Aaron Webb three, Alex Brandenburger two, and Bryson Wall one with six rebounds. Hoene had five rebounds.

Olney's Braden Flanagan led all scorers with 17 points, while Dakotah Brown scored 11 points and Brent Hatten scored eight points with nine rebounds. Zach Duenas also grabbed nine rebounds to accompany six points.

St. Anthony slipped to 8-3 on the season.

St. Anthony won the JV game 43-39. Kennan Walsh scored 11 points and Jack Elder added 10 points to pace the JV Bulldogs.
