CHBC Defeats Salem; Other Scores from Highland Girls Tournament

The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Hornets posted a 62-54 victory over the Salem Lady Wildcats Wednesday night at the Highland Tournament.

The win moves the Hornets into the consolation championship game Saturday against Highland.  The Lady Bulldogs downed Nokomis 57-43 in the other consolation bracket semi-final game.

The Hornets led 16-10 after one quarter behind eight points from Ava Paruleski.  CHBC was up 33-24 at halftime and led 50-44 after three periods.

Paruleski led CHBC with 20 points including three three-pointers.  Micah Jones scored 17 points and Chandler Ward added 11 points.  Autumn Riley scored eight points, and Jensyn Morrison, Kirby Herrmann and Kacie Hilt each scored two points.

Morgan Hawkins scored 18 points to pace Salem.

CHBC, now 13-5 on the season, will play Highland for the consolation championship Saturday at 10am.

In a championship bracket semi-final game at Highland Wednesday, Belleville West won over Nashville, 32-26.

Tonight at Highland: in 5th place bracket semi-final games, Hillsboro plays Carlyle at 5pm and Teutopolis takes on Okawville at 6:30pm. Then, a championship bracket semi-final game between Breese Central and Breese Mater Dei at 8pm.
