Windsor/Stew-Stras, M. Grove Win at St. Elmo Tourney

ST. ELMO -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg moved into the consolation championship with a 50-42 win over Ramsey in the 59th Annual St. Elmo Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday.

Ramsey held a 12-11 opening quarter lead and led 26-21 at halftime. But the Hatchets mounted a comeback with a 12-8 third period and outscored Ramsey 17-8 in the final quarter for the eight-point victory.

Beau Bennett tallied 12 points while Jackson Miller added 10 in the win for the Hatchets.

Windsor/Stew-Stras moved into the consolation championship game and will face either Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City or Patoka at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

In the second contest, Mulberry Grove handed Cumberland a 60-54 loss.

The Aces stepped out to a 16-10 opening quarter lead but the Pirates mounted a comeback to pull within 26-24 at halftime.

Mulberry Grove held a 41-36 lead going into the final quarter and stepped to the free throw line, hitting 12 of 21 free throws for a 19-18 final period edge.

The Aces were led by C. Latham with 20 points, W. Criner with 14 and K. Scoggins with 10.

Cumberland was led by Zach Wolke with 24 and Brennyn Cutts with 10.

Mulberry Grove will play for the championship at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against either Vandalia or St. Elmo/Brownstown. Cumberland drops into the third place game against the loser of Vandalia or St. Elmo/Brownstown at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Tonight's games will feature CHBC against Patoka at 6:15 p.m. followe dby Vandalia meeting St. Elmo/Brownstown at 7:45.
