St. Elmo/Brownstown Advances In Own Tourney

ST. ELMO -- St. Elmo/Brownstown advanced in its own 59th Annual St. Elmo/Brownstown Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament Wednesday evening.

SEB handed Patoka a 57-40 loss. The Eagles took a 15-10 opening quarter lead then led 27-20 at halftime. SEB then went on a tear in the third quarter, outgunning Patoka 19-8 and putting the game away.

Three players finished in double figures for the Eagles. Andy Goldsborough led the way with 14 points while Jacob Baron added 11 and Bryton Pruett 10. Goldsborough had a double-double with 13 rebounds. He also added three assists and two steals. Baron pulled down eight boards.

The Eagles nailed 10 three-pointers in the contest led by Goldsborough with four and Nate Philpot with three.

In the opening game, Vandalia claimed a 78-44 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

The Vandals stepped out to a 25-15 opening quarter lead and led 42-28 at halftime.

Morrison tallied 18 for the winners while Barth added 16 and Wells 14.

CHBC was led by Dylan Webster and Eddie Clearwater with 10 points each.

The tournament continues tonight with Ramsey facing Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 6:15 followed by Cumberland taking on Mulberry Grove at 7:45.
