Charleston came calling at Effingham and claimed two junior high boys basketball victories Thursday evening.

 

Charleston won the seventh-grade game, 46-21. Charleston took a 22-12 halftime lead and that was the game.

Effingham was led by Raddatz with six points. EJHS drops to 2-6 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest, Charleston was a 39-28 winner. Charleston led 12-4 at halftime.

Effingham was led by Armondo Estrada with nine points and Tanner Pontious with seven. The Mustangs drop to 5-3.

At Sacred Heart

Effingham Sacred Heart and Altamont split wins in action Thursday.

The Shamrocks claimed the seventh-grade victory, 38-20. Sacred Heart trailed 15-14 at halftime then had a 12-2 third quarter and went on for the victory.

Sacred Heart was led by Noah Biggs with 22 points. Altamont was led by Denton with nine.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont was a 49-45 winner. Altamont trailed 14-12 after the opening quarter but took a 25-19 halftime lead and led 35-29 going into the final period.

Hammer led Altamont with 16 points. Sacred Heart was led by Tegeler with 18 and McDevitt with 12.

At Strasburg

Sigel St. Michael and host Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a victory each Thursday evening.

The Sharpshooters claimed the seventh-grade game, 39-18. St. Michael (2-4) held a 15-8 halftime lead then had a 24-10 second half.

Ruholl led the Sharpshooters with 11 points while Croy added eight. Stew-Stras was led by B. Smith with five.

In the eighth-grade game, Stew-Stras picked up a 47-22 victory. The Stars had a 26-10 halftime lead.

A. Wittenberg tallied 13 while J. Wittenberg added 10 and Nothaus nine for the winners who improve to 7-0.

St. Michael was led by B. Fearday with eight points.
