ALTAMONT -- Stewardson-Strasburg and Altamont split victories Friday in girls junior high school basketball action.

In the seventh-grade contest, Stew-Stras picked up the 38-34 victory. Stew-Stras held a 22-14 halftime lead then held off Altamont in the second half.

Kinkelaar and Vonderheide scored 12 points each while Hayes had 10 for the winners. Altamont was led by Nelson with 22. Stew-Stras stands at 1-2 in the National Trail Conference, 2-2 overall.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont claimed the win, 30-13. Altamont held a 12-8 first half lead then had an 18-5 second half run.

Altamont was led by Becker with nine points and Tedrick with seven. Stew-Stras was led by Kinkelaar with six. Stew-Stras drops to 0-3 in the conference, 0-4 overall.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Ramsey in both games Friday.

In the seventh-grade contest, CHBC was a 33-18 winner and stands at 4-0 on the season.

Ruby Stuckemeyer tallied 19 points while Kendyl Vaughn chipped in with 10.

In the eighth-grade game, CHBC won 40-9. CHBC took a 22-4 halftime lead. Gracie Heckert scored 18 for the winners who are also 4-0 on the season.
