The Neoga Indians downed the St. Anthony Bulldogs 55-50 at the Enlow Center Tuesday night.  The National Trail Conference contest was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.

Neoga rode the superb performance of junior sharpshooter Jake Baker to the victory.  Baker poured in 38 points on 14 of 30 shooting from the field including eight three-pointers.

The Indians led the contest 12-6 after one quarter before the Bulldogs put together a great second quarter, outscoring Neoga 22-10 in the period to take a 28-22 halftime lead.  However, the Bulldogs scored just 22 points in the second half.

Neoga outpointed the Bulldogs 19-8 in the third quarter to pull back ahead 41-36, and then pushed the lead back to seven before the Bulldogs made one last run to get within three but could pull no closer.

For St. Anthony, Jacob Schuette scored 22 points on seven of 21 shooting, also grabbing nine rebounds.  John Goeckner had another double-double for the Bulldogs on 16 points and 13 rebounds.  Alex Hoelscher scored six points, Charlie Schultz four points and Neil Williams two points.

Besides Jake Baker's huge game, Neoga got seven points and 12 rebounds from Michael Baker.  Also, Wyatt Krikie scored five points with six rebounds and several assists, Riley Walk and Cordell Kersey two apiece and Jon Atwell one point.

St. Anthony made just 18 of 51 shots for 35%, hit just 13 of 23 foul shots, committed 13 turnovers and grabbed 31 rebounds while making one of four three-point tries.

Neoga hit 40% from the field on 20 of 50 shooting.  The Indians made just seven of 15 free throws, a stat that almost cost them the game, committed 14 turnovers but just four of those in the second half and pulled down 38 rebounds while making eight of 20 three-point shots.

Neoga improved to 4-12 with the win, while St. Anthony fell to 3-12.  The Bulldogs are back in action Friday night at Breese Mater Dei.

St. Anthony won the JV game 54-28.  Matt Gibson with 16 points and Zach Gardewine with 11 led St. Anthony while Ron Kersey led Neoga with 13 points.
