EHS, St. Anthony Claim Frosh/Soph Boys Basketball Wins

Effingham played host to Salem and captured both freshmen and sophomore boys basketball victories Thursday evening.

In the freshman game, Effingham won 56-21. The Hearts led 27-14 at halftime then had a 29-7 second half. Michael Woltman was the lone player in double figures with 12. Sean Zerrusen chipped in with eight.

In the sophomore contest, Effingham won 63-46. Kevin Daugherty tallied 23 to lead the Hearts. He scored six in the opening quarter as the Hearts took a 20-9 lead. Daugherty then chipped in with eight in the second period for a 37-22 halftime lead.

Also in double figures for the Hearts was Braydon Bone with 10.

At St. Anthony

St. Anthony played host to South Central in a freshman/sophomore game and picked up a 46-31 victory.

Derek Rios led St. Anthony with 10 points while Nick Grunloh added nine points. South Central had four players with six points each.
