Teutopolis Hands Olney 53-48 Loss

TEUTOPOLIS -- Madeline Hartke kept the Wooden Shoes going and Teutopolis High School hit its free throws in the final quarter to pull out a 53-48 victory over Olney in girls basketball action Thursday evening.

Hartke tallied half of her team's 12 points in the opening quarter for a slight 12-11 lead. Hartke then knocked down four baskets for eight of her team's 12 points in the second period as the Shoes led 24-20 at halftime.

The Tigers came back with an 8-6 third quarter run to pull within 30-28 going into the final period. T-town then connected on 12 free throws in the final quarter as Hartke tallied 10 points and the Shoes outran Olney 23-20.

Hartke finished with 25 points on 11 field goals and three of four at the line. Also in double figures was Cierra Thompson with 15 points. Thompson hit a field goal and was seven of eight at the line.

Hartke led in rebounds with seven while Anna Hartke and Danielle Repking had six each. Thompson led in steals with two. Haley Giles and Hartke had two assists each. Giles and Jessica Schumacher had a block each.

Olney had three players in double figures, Shipman with 15, Wisner with 11 and Miller with 10.
