Millikin Coach Lori Kerans

Millikin University head women's basketball coach Lori Kerans picked up her 500th career coaching victory when the Big Blue downed Illinois College 66-61 Saturday night in the annual Tri-Conference Tournament at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Mo.

Kerans, a Newton High School graduate, who played basketball for the Eagles, became the 15th active Division III women's basketball coach to reach the 500 win milestone and the first in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Kerans needed four victories coming into the season and her Big Blue squad now stands at 4-4 on the year. Kerans is in her 27th season as head of the program at Millikin. She has led Millikin to 13 20-win seasons and has had 23 winning seasons. She has been named CCIW Coach of the Year seven times and guided Millikin to its 14th NCAA appearance and first-ever NCAA champoinship during the 2004-05 season.

Kerans is a 1985 graduate of Millikin where she played basketball and was a four-year letterwinner. She played in the NCAA basketball tournament and was named the Central Regional's Most Valuable Player and was a Final Four-All-Tournament Team selection.
