EHS Boys Hand Breese M.D. Three-Point Loss

BREESE -- Effingham High school trailed Breese Mater Dei throughout the game but came through when it mattered to pull out a 53-50 boys basketball victory Tuesday evening.

The Hearts fell behind 18-14 in the opening quarter. Mason Hull kept the Hearts in the running, knocking in two three-pointers, a regular basket and two free throws for 10 points.

EHS started to come around with an 11-7 second period to knot the score at 25-25 at halftime.

But Mater Dei came back with a 14-8 run to lead 39-33 going into the final period.

But from there it was all Hearts. Ryan Sandifer went on a tear, scoring eight points while Landon Wolfe hit five of six from the free throw line.

Wolfe and Hull tallied 15 points each while Sandifer ended with 10. Matt Robinson was on the verge of double figures with nine. the Hearts improve to 11-15 on the season.

Mater Dei captured the junior varsity contest, 70-44.
