TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School played host to Newton and sent the Eagles home with a 52-30 loss in varsity girls basketball action Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 12-6 opening quarter lead and led 27-10 at halftime. Madeline Hartke tallied 18 points for the winners while Jessica Schumacher chipped in with 10.

Newton was led by Morgan Swingler with 17. The Eagles drop to 9-4 on the season.

Vandalia jumped out to a quick 20-8 lead on Altamont and never looked back in a 64-43 victory.

The Vandals held a 45-16 halftime lead. Bruno tallied 15 and Hosick 10 for the winners while three players scored eight. Altamont was led by Madison Ohnesorge with 26.

At Bloomington

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City had a tough opponent Saturday and fought hard but ended up dropping a 69-57 decision to Bloomington Central Catholic

CHBC ripped off to a 21-11 first quarter lead but Central Catholic came back with a 25-14 run to lead 36-35 at halftime. Central Catholic then came out in the third period with a 24-11 run and that was the game.

Five players hit double figures for Bloomington Central Catholic. Danielle Davis led the way with 17 points while O'Donnell tallied 11, Holt 10, Mason 10 and McGraw 10.

The Hornets were led by Autumn Riley with 25, Micah Jones with 14 and Ava Paruleski with 11. Jones pulled down 12 rebounds while Paruleski had six assists. CHBC drops to 6-4 on the season.
