STRASBURG -- Sigel St. Michael captured the championship of the Class 8-1A Boys Basketball Regional Thursday evening.

The Sharpshooters downed host Stewardson-Strasburg, 51-25. St. Michael led 32-20 at halftime and had a 13-2 third period run.

Croy led the way for St. Michael with 26 points while Niebrugge added 12.

Stew-Stras was led by A. Wittenberg with eight points. Stew-Stras ends the season with an 11-13 record.

St. Michael advances to its own sectional Wednesday, February 7 against Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes. Our Lady of Lourdes won the Pana Sacred Heart Regional by beating Pana Sacred Heart, 42-31.

Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown  Regional

North Clay (Louisville) captured the championship of the St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional Thursday evening.

North Clay downed South Central, 55-47. North Clay advances to its own sectional Wednesday, February 7 and will face Effingham St. Anthony at 6:30 p.m. The Bullpups won their own regional Tuesday over Neoga, 33-24.

 

Class 8-2A Assumption Central A&M Regional

Assumption Central A&M captured its own regional by edging Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 28-26.

CHBC held an 8-6 opening quarter lead but Central A&M came back to lead 14-11 at halftime. CHBC took the third quarter lead 20-19. Central A&M then had a 9-6 final quarter to pull out the victory.

CHBC was led by Waylon Robertson and Jason Baylis with eight points each. CHBC ends the season with a 14-9 record.

Class 8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional

Teutopolis claimed the championship of the Lawrenceville Parkview Regional Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes defeated Casey-Westfield, 53-32.

T-town took a 15-10 opening quarter lead and led 27-21 at halftime. The Shoes then had a 26-11 second half.

K. Bannick and S. Bushur were the one-two scoring punch with 17 points each for the Shoes. M. Althoff chipped in with nine.

T-town advances to its own sectional Wednesday, February 6 at 6:30 p.m. against Macon Meridian. Meridian trounced Shelbyville Moulton, 58-15 to win the Paris Mayo Regional.

Class 8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional

Class 8-4A Effingham Regional

Stephen Decatur claimed the championship of the Effingham Regional.

Stephen Decatur downed Taylorville 40-37.  Stephen Decatur advances to the Mattoon Sectional where it will face Chatham Glenwood at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 7.
