Effingham St. Anthony captured the championship of its own Class 8-2A Boys Basketball Regional Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups handed Neoga a 33-24 loss. St. Anthony edged out to a 5-3 opening quarter lead and led 15-9 at halftime. The Bullpups had an 18-15 second half.

Stewart and Blanchette provided the one-two scoring punch with 12 points each for St. Anthony

Neoga was led by Titus with 13.

St. Anthony (14-9) advances to the North Clay (Louisville) Sectional Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. against either South Central or North Clay. Those two teams square off Thursday for the championship of the St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional.

Class 8-1A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional

Sigel St. Michael and Stewardson-Strasburg will be playing for the championship of the Stew-Stras Regional after picking up wins Tuesday evening.

St. Michael jumped out to an 18-7 opening quarter lead and led 29-10 at halftime. The Sharpshooters went on for a 55-24 win over Newton St. Thomas.

St. Michael was led by Croy with a whopping 30 points while Niebrugge contributed 14.

St. Thomas was led by Schafer with nine points.

In the next game, Stewardson-Strasburg led 28-9 at halftime and never looked back in a 47-25 win over Dieterich.

Wernsing scored 20 for the winners while Dandurand and Beals had eight each. Stew-Stras improves to 11-12.

Dieterich was led by B. Budde with 11 points.

Sigel St. Michael and Stew-Stras will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.

Class 8-2 A Assumption Central A&M Regional

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will be playing for the championship of the Assumption Central A&M Regional after a win Tuesday evening.

CHBC downed Findlay Okaw Valley 45-40 in the second game of the evening.

The Bobcats jumped out to a big opening quarter lead, 13-4 then had to hold off a charging Okaw Valley for the five-point win.

Daniel Lucas scored 12 for the winners while Jadon Robertson chipped in with 10. CHBC connected on 11 of 22 free throws and hit 16 field goals, including two three-pointers. Okaw Valley was eight of 16 at the line.

In the opening game of the evening, Assumption Central A&M downed Pawnee, 48-13.

CHBC takes on Assumption Central A&M at 6 p.m. Thursday for the championship.

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Macon Meridian downed Paris Mayo, 55-12 in the Paris Mayo Regional Tuesday.

In the second contest, Shelbyville Moulton won over Arcola, 39-31.

Macon Meridian takes on Shelbyville Moulton at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship. The winner advances to the Teutopolis Sectional where it will face either Teutopolis or Casey-Westfield. Those two teams play Thursday  at 6 p.m. for the championship of the Lawrenceville Parkview Regional.
