Altamont, BSE, WSS Claim Girls Victories

Neoga and Altamont players honored the memory of Altamont High School Athletic Director Todd Arnold with a moment of silence before their game Monday evening. Arnold was killed in the early hours Sunday morning.

NEOGA -- It was a double figure performance for Altamont in the opening three quarters as the Indians defeated Neoga 57-25 in a National Trail Conference matchup in girls basketball Monday evening.

Altamont stepped out to a 14-6 opening quarter lead then had a 17-6 second period and a 19-6 third quarter.

Only one player hit double figures for Altamont as Brooke Runge scored 13 points. Shelbi Stone and Leah Mayhaus tallied eight each.

Neoga was led by Blair Banning with 12 points. Neoga drops to 11-15 on the season.

Brownstown/St. Elmo handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a loss in National Trail Conference play Monday evening, 58-46.

BSE led 26-24 at halftime then came out in the third quarter and ripped off a 20-5 run.

Three players hit double figures for BSE. Claire Wilhour tallied 17 while Olivia Campbell added 16 and Natalie Oberlink 11.

CHBC was led by Lauren Wojick with 10 and Jaelyn Robertson with eight.

Teutopolis High School dropped a loss to Breese Mater Dei Monday evening, 56-42.

The Wooden Shoes trailed by two after the opening quarter, 12-10 and 25-18 at halftime. The Shoes then had a 13-9 third quarter run to pull within three points going into the final period. But the Knights got back on track with a 22-11 final period, hitting seven baskets and seven of eight from the line.

The Shoes were led by Jolene Bueker with 19 points and nine rebounds. Mariana Hemmen had two steals. Macy Michels pulled down six rebounds.

T-town continues to play without one of their top scorers, Sadie Bueker.

The Bluestreaks ran off to a 14-2 opening quarter lead and led 32-14 at halftime.

 Liberty Dunaway led Cumberland with 15 points. Dunaway connected on four three-pointers.
