Shoes Finish Sixth at Highland Girls Tourney

HIGHLAND -- Teutopolis High School fell to Okawville 52-45 in the fifth place game at the 32nd Annual Scott Credit Union Highland Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday.

Okawville edged out to a 10-8 opening quarter lead then had a 13-6 second period to lead 23-14 at halftime. The Wooden Shoes had a 15-14 third quarter edge but Okawville scored 15 in the final period.

T-town had one player in double figures as Sadie Bueker tallied 10. Macy Mette led in steals with two. Jolene Bueker had seven rebounds.

Winning the championship was O'Fallon over Breese Central, 50-43. Third place went to Bethalto Civic Memorial who downed Highland, 51-45. Salem won the consolation championship with a 38-28 win over Belleville West.
