Hearts Capture Frosh/Soph Boys Wins

MOUNT ZION -- Effingham picked up both freshmen and sophomore boys basketball wins over Mount Zion Monday evening.

The Hearts defeated Mount Zion 50-21 in freshman play. The Hearts led 19-11 at halftime then had a 30-10 second half run. Sean Zerrusen and Brady Jackson tallied 12 points each for the Hearts.

In the sophomore game, Effingham claimed a 47-22 victory. Luis Ramos scored 14 and Michael Carie 11 for the winners. The Hearts led 22-10 at halftime and never looked back.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony claimed two victories over Vandalia in frosh/soph action Monday evening.

The Bulldogs won the freshman contest 49-22. Jeff Niebrugge tallied 12 and Nick Grunloh 11.

In sophomore action, St. Anthony was a 34-27 winner. Andrew Gardewine led with 12 points while Conner Greene added eight.
