The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs had their chances late, but Vandalia held on for a 52-44 win in the seventh place game at the Mattoon Girls Tournament.

St. Anthony Coach Bart Wiedman said, "We were down 44-40 and missed six straight free throws. If we convert, the score goes to our advantage and we sneak out a win. The fifth game in three days got the best of us."

Vandalia edged out to a 13-10 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 30-18 at halftime. St. Anthony pulled within 37-33 going into the final quarter but the Vandals got the momentum back for a 15-11 run.

Clare McHugh led St. Anthony with 17 points.

Congratulations to St. Anthony's Clare McHugh, who Wiedman said "had a great tournament" and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
