GERMANTOWN HILLS -- Teutopolis Junior High School will be playing for the Class 8-3A State Girls Basketball Tournament championship after picking up two victories Saturday at Germantown Hills Middle School.

T-town opened with a 27-20 win over Watseka Glenn Raymond. The Shoes trailed Glenn Raymond 8-4 after the opening quarter but had pulled within 8-7 by halftime. T-town then had a 20-12 second half run.

Izzy Hardiek tallied 12 points while Macy Probst added nine for the Shoes.

In other first round contests, New Berlin beat South Holland McKinley 49-37, Piasa Southwestern won over Tolono Unity 31-29 and Germantown Hills downed Farmington Central 31-18.

In the semifinals, T-town handed Germantown Hills a 35-25 loss. Again the Shoes trailed after the opening quarter 7-6 but took an 18-10 halftime lead. Germantown Hills had a slight 8-7 third quarter edge but the Shoes finished out strong 10-7.

Hardiek scored 21 for the winners. T-town improved to 23-2 and will now face Piasa Southestern at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for the state champoinship.

Piasa Southestern downed New Berlin 32-24 and improved to 25-1. New Berlin will face Germantown HIlls at 6 p.m. Thursday for third place.

Class 8-2A State Tournament

Effingham St. Anthony saw its season come to a close at the Class 8-2A Girls State Basketball Tournament Saturday at Macon Meridian High School.

The Bullpups fell to Lewistown Central 23-17. Lewistown Central took a 6-2 opening quarter lead but the Bullpups pulled back within 8-6 at halftime. Lewistown Central then had a 15-11 second half.

St. Anthony was led by Riley Guy with 10 points. The Bullpups end the season 21-3.

In other games, Winchester edged Bourbonnais St. George 34-33, Decatur Hope downed Champaign St. Mathtew 54-45 and Cathage won over Princeville 41-9.

In the semifinals, Lewistown Central downed Winchester 43-33 and Carthage won over Decatur Hope 32-23.

Lewistown Central (25-2) will face Carthage (27-0) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for the championship while Winchester (22-2) meets Decatur Hope (25-2) at 6 p.m. for third place.

Class 8-4A State Tournament

Effingham fell to Shorewood Troy 48-24 in the Class 8-4A State Tournament at Normal Parkside Junior High School Saturday.

Shorewood Troy stepped out to a 10-1 opening quarter lead on the Mustangs and led 28-6 at halftime. Effingham played better in the second half but couldn't overcome that opening half surge by Shorewood Troy.

The Mustangs were led by Meredith Schaefer with eight points. Effingham ends the season with a 15-8 record.

In other first round games, Normal Parkside edged Chatham Glenwood 29-27, Arlington Heights South dominated Mokena 49-24 and Edwardsville Liberty defeated Flossmoor Parker 54-39.

In the semifinals, Shorewood Troy beat Normal Parkside 45-43 and Edwardsville Liberty downed Arlington Heights South 59-34.

Shorewood Troy (20-5) will face Edwardsville Liberty (25-) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for the state championship while Normal Parkside (235-1) meets Arlignton Heights South (17-1) at 6 p.m. for third place.
