Bulldogs Win on Road at St. Elmo Over SEB

The St. Anthony Bulldogs posted a 51-31 win over the St. Elmo/Brownstown Eagles Friday night in National Trail Conference action in St. Elmo. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

St. Anthony was able to post a 12-3 edge in the first quarter, but their attack bogged down in the middle two quarters against the patient Eagles. The Bulldogs posted a narrow 22-18 edge over the middle two quarters, but shook loose for 17 points in the final quarters to post the 20-point win.

St. Elmo/Brownstown played without one of their starters, Isaac Maxey, who is out of the lineup with a broken bone in one of his hands. It's hoped he will be back around the first of the year.

St. Anthony Coach Cody Rincker said he knew SEB Coach Greg Feezel would try to "muck it up" on offense and Feezel said he wasn't going to get into a running game with the Bulldogs.

St. Anthony had one standout on offense in each half of the game. Adam Levitt scored 14 points in the first half on five-of-five shooting including three threes. In the second half, it was sophomore Jaccob Dust who scored 15 points on six-of-eight shooting and three-of-four from the line. Levitt finished with 18 points, and he also led the Bulldogs in rebounds with five. Dust had four rebounds to go with his points.

Lewis Brown led St. Elmo/Brownstown with 15 points on 4 of 11 shooting and tied for the lead in rebounds with five.

St. Elmo/Brownstown shot just 27% from the field, making just 8 of 30 shots, including 2 of 8 threes. The Eagles were 13 of 20 from the foul line, grabbed 18 rebounds, but turned the ball over a whopping 24 times.

St. Anthony made 19 of 44 shots for 43%, including 3 of 10 on threes. The Bulldogs were 10 of 16 from the line, turned the ball over 13 times.

St. Anthony improved to 6-1 with the win, while SEB slipped to 6-2.

St. Anthony won the JV game 77-21. Alexander Brandenburger led St. Anthony with 18 points, while Quinton Milleville scored 11 points and Ben Strullmyer added 10.
