Shoes Beat Salem; Neoga Falls to Vandalia in Girls Action

SALEM -- Teutopolis High School claimed a girls basketball win over Salem Saturday, 47-30.

The Wooden Shoes took a 10-4 opening quarter lead but the Wildcats fought back to pull within 19-16 at halftime. T-town then went on a tear, shooting out to a 19-4 third quarter surge to lead 38-20 going into the final period.

Madelina Hartke led the Shoes with 19 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Danielle Repking chipped in with nine points. Repking and Cierra Thompson had two assists each.

Salem was led by Annie Tucker with 10.

At Neoga

Vandalia went overtime before downing Neoga 58-47 in a non-conference contest.

Neoga held a 16-11 opening quarter lead but Vandalia came back to lead 28-18 at halftime. Both teams went scoreless in the third quarter. Neoga then had a 29-19 run to knot the score at 47-47. In the overtime session, the Vandals had an 11-0 run.

Bruno tallied 32 for the winners while Cripe had 12 and Godoyo 11.

Neoga was led by sophomore Madison Butler with 20. Jillian Deters, a junior, chipped in with 16.
