Effingham Claims Frosh/Soph Boys Victories; T-town Wins Girls F/S Contest

Effingham picked up freshman/sophomore boys basketball wins over Flora.

In the freshman contest, Effingham claimed a 49-37 victory. Effingham edged out to a 14-11 opening quarter lead and led 22-16 at halftime. The Hearts had a 12-6 final period run. Jared Minor led the Hearts with 20 points while Michael Woltman chipped in with 12.

Effingham won the sophomore contest 86-22. Michael Carie got the Hearts off in the right direction by scoring 10 of the team's 21 first quarter points. Effingham held a 42-22 halftime lead. Carie then tallied eight more in the third period and finished with 23. Luis Ramos led the Hearts with 25 points, scoring 10 in the third period.

Teutopolis freshman/sophomore girls basketball squad handed Paris a 57-17 loss Saturday.

T-town ran off to a 27-4 opening quarter lead and never looked back. T-town was led by Kayla Kroeger with 20 points and Anni Borries with 16.
