CHARLESTON -- Effingham Junior High School's seventh-grade team captured a double overtime win over Charleston Thursday evening, 61-60.
The Mustangs held a 13-8 opening quarter lead. Charleston came back to lead 25-21 at halftime and 40-33 going into the final quarter. Effingham then had a 16-9 run and sent the game into the first overtime. Both teams tallied seven in the first OT and EHS had a 5-4 second period for the victory.
Wolfe tallied 19, Westendorf 14 and Pontious 10 for the Mustangs. EJHS is now 5-1 on the season.
In eighth-grade play, Charleston downed Effingham 43-23.
Effingham was led by Volpi with seven and Pals with six.

At Altamont
Altamont downed Effingham Sacred Heart in seventh-grade play, 39-21.
Altamont led 17-10 at halftime then had a 16-6 third quarter run.
Altamont was led by Hammer with 17 points. Sacred Heart was led by Lohman with nine.
In the eighth-grade contest, Sacred Heart pulled out a 48-43 win.
Altamont led 16-14 at halftime. The Shamrocks came back with an 11-9 third quarter to move ahead 28-25 then had a 20-18 final period.
Feldhake and Zerrusen provided the one-two scoring punch for the Shamrocks with 17 points each. Altamont was led by Schultz with 14 and Reardon with 10.

Stewardson-Strasburg downed Sigel St. Michael in seventh-grade action Thursday evening, 45-18.
Stew-Stras stepped out to a 31-9 halftime lead. J. Wittenberg tallied 16 and A. Wittenberg 10. Stew-Stras is now 7-0.
In eighth-grade play, Sigel St. Michahel picked up a 43-31 victory. Croy tallied 27 for the winners. Stew-Stras drops to 1-7.

Teutopolis nabbed two victories over Jasper County Thursday.
T-town won the seventh-grade B contest 43-18. Tyler Schwerdt tallied 11 and Caden Hoene 10 for the Shoes. Shamhart led Jasper County with six.
In the eighth-grade A contest, T-town was a 36-11 winner. Kaleb Bannicke scored 16 for the Shoes. Shafer led Jasper County with five.

SEB trailed CHBC 13-1 at halftime then had a 9-6 third quarter and a 10-8 final period. Dagen tallied 13 to lead the winners. CHBC was led by Waylon Watson with nine.
In eighth-grade play, CHBC claimed a 39-24 victory. CHBC steppd out to a 16-2 opening quarter lead then held off SEB in the second half.
Daniel Lucas scored 10 for the winners. SEB was led by Maxey with nine.

Ramsey downed Altamont Lutheran 36-33 in seventh-grade action Thursday, 36-33.
Ramsey trailed Altamont Lutheran 21-17 at halftime but came back with a 19-13 second half. ALIS was led by Avery Jahraus with 10 points.
In the eighth-grade contest, ALIS took a 58-24 victory. ALIS jetted out to a 31-11 halftime lead.
Four players hit double figures for the winners, Verdeyen with 13, Robinson and Klimpel with 11 each and Kopplin with 10.
