Effingham Junior High School now sports a 10-0 record in seventh-grade girls basketball after picking up another win Monday against Olney.

The Mustangs won 33-4, taking a 24-4 opening half lead and holding Olney scoreless in the second half. Ten players scored for Effingham, six of those leading with four points each.

In the eighth-grade game, Olney claimed a 55-19 win. Olney led 23-9 at halftime then had a 23-6 third quarter.

Schaefer and Sowell had four points each for the Mustangs who drop to 7-3.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Dieterich split victories Monday evening.

CHBC was a 37-27 winner in seventh-grade action. CHBC led 16-2 after the opening quarter and 27-6 at halftime. Gracie Heckert scored 19 and Mady Wojcik 10 for the winners.

Dieterich was led by Esker with six points.

In eighth-grade play, Dieterich captured a 27-23 win. CHBC led 19-9 at halftime but Dieterich came back with an 18-4 second half. Boerngen scored 12 and Meinhart 10 for the winners.

CHBC was led by Heckert and Tatyana Duckwitz with seven each. CHBC is 3-3 in the National Trail Conference, 6-5 overall.
