Class 8-2A South Central Regional

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick picked up a 37-25 win over Stewardson-Strasburg in opening round play Monday evening at the South Central Girls Junior High School Basketball Regional.

BCCH held an 11-5 opening quarter lead and led 19-9 at halftime. Miller tallied nine and Morrison eight for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Schlechte with 12 and ends the season with an 8-10 record.

There was no score reported on the second game featuring Neoga against Cisne. BCCH will now meet Altamont tonight at 6 followed by South Central taking on the winner of the Neoga-Cisne contest at 7:15.

Class 8-3A Hillsboro Regional

Pana and Brownstown advanced after opening round action in the Hillsboro Regional.

Pana defeated Greenville 28-14 while Brownstown was a 40-12 winner over Kincaid South Fork. Pana will now face Hillsboro tonight at 6 followed by Brownstown taking on Vandalia at 7:15.

Class 8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional

There was only one contest played in this regional as Red Hill (Bridgport) defeated Edwards County (Albion) 26-17.

Red Hill advances to meet Jasper County at 6 p.m. Thursday followed by host Lawrenceville Parkview taking on Robinson Nuttall at 7:15 p.m.

Class 8-3A Marshall Regional

Cumberland picked up an opening round win in the Marshall Regional by edging Paris Mayo 25-24.

Cumberland will now meet Teutopolis tonight at 6 followed by Marshall taking on Casey-Westfield at 7:15.

Class 8-3A Mattoon Regional

Effingham saw its season come to a close in opening round play of the Mattoon Regional.

The Mustangs fell to Charleston 28-14 in the second game of the evening. In the opener, Champaign Edison downed Champaign Franklin 35-17.

Tonight's action features Champaign Jefferson against Champaign Edison at 6 followed by Mattoon taking on Charleston at 7:30.
