Effingham Junior High School played host to Mattoon in boys B basketball play Tuesday evening and picked up two victories.

The seventh-grade squad captured a 39-15 victory. Noah Mulheron tallied 12 for the winners while Terrance Hill and Bryce Lohman finished with six each. Chase Maroon led in rebounding with nine and steals with nine.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham was a 38-11 winner. The Mustangs held Mattoon scoreless in the opening quarter and took a 16-3 first half lead. Koenig tallied 10 for the winners while Osborn had seven steals and Keith and Hull pulled down four rebounds each.

At Windsor

Effingham Sacred Heart split with Windsor in action Tuesday.

Windsor was a 40-19 winner in seventh-grade play. Armos led the winners with 21 points. Sherrod and D. Kruger tallied five each for the Shamrocks.

In eighth-grade action. Sacred Heart was a 29-24 winner. Bushue scored 12 for the Shamrocks. Windsor was led by Hutchinson with 21.

At Vandalia

St. Anthony picked up an eighth-grade victory over host Vandalia, 33-15.

The Bullpups led 15-8 at halftime and had a 12-5 third period run. Jansen tallied eight and Greene seven for the winners. Well led Vandalia with eight. St. Anthony is now 5-1 on the season.

Teutopolis picked up two victories over Robinson Nuttall Tuesday evening.

T-town won the seventh-grade game 48-20 taking a 26-15 halftime lead and outscoring Nuttall 14-1 in the final period. Lee Hardiek tallied 11 and Ethyn Dust 10 for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, T-town won 43-25. T-town led 22-14 at halftime and had a 12-4 final period run. Lucas Deters scored13 and Blake Mette 12.

Stewardson-Strasburg handed Cowden-Herrick two losses. Stew-Stras was a 45-34 winner in seventh-grade play. Kessler tallied 16 for the winners. Phillips led Cowden-Herrick with 14. Stew-Stras improves to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the National Trail Conference.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras edged Cowden-Herrick 33-31. Nichols scored 11 and Overbeck 10 for the winners. Blackerby led Cowden-Herrick with 15. Stew-Stras is 4-1 in the conference, 5-5 overall.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) evened its record to 3-3 overall and improved to 3-1 in the Midland Trail Conference with a victory Tuesday.

North Clay defeated Noble 49-33. Quincy Aldrich tallied 14 while Bryce Walker and Cody Smith had 12 each.

At Altamont

Altamont handed Salem a loss in eighth-grade play, 58-45.

Altamont took a 29-21 halftime lead but held only a 41-39 third quarter lead. Altamont then outran Salem 17-6 in the final quarter. Armstrong tallied 22, Stone 15 and Finn 10.
