Effingham, Altamont, Brownstown Advance to Sectionals

STRASBURG -- Altamont stepped out to a 10-3 opening quarter lead and had a 15-6 third period run to claim the championship of the Class 7-2A Altamont Girls Basketball Regional 39-18 over Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.

Stone tallied 10 while McHugh and Mayhaus had eight points each and H. Wolff seven for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Schlechte with six and the squad finishes the season at 12-9.

Altamont will play in the Stewardson-Strasburg Sectional Wednesday, November 29 against Paris Crestwood at 6 p.m.

7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Teutopolis fell to Paris Mayo in the championship game of the Class 7-3A Casey-Westfield Regional Tuesday.

Paris Mayo edged out to a 6-2 opening quarter lead and led 17-6 at halftime then had a 13-5 second half run. Malone and Bowman led the winners with 10 points each. Macy Michels led T-town with five points. T-town finishes the season at 15-9.

Paris Mayo advances to the Teutopolis Sectional Wednesday at 6 p.m.

7-3A Pana Regional

Brownstown/St. Elmo defeated Pana to win the championship of the Class 7-3A Pana Regional Tuesday.

Brownstown/St. Elmo was a 28-13 winner and will advance to the Vandalia Sectional Wednesday, November 28 at 6 p.m. against either Roxana or Litchfield.

7-4A Charleston Regional

Effingham defeated Charleston on its home floor to win the championship of the 7-4A Charleston Regional Tuesday.

The Mustangs zipped out to a 13-6 opening quarter lead and led 18-12 at halftime. Charleston outscored the Mustangs by a point in the second half.

Effingham was led by Ramos with 11 points and Meyers with seven. The Mustangs advance to the Mahomet-Seymour Sectional Wednesday, November 28 at 6 p.m. against either Mahomet-Seymour or Urbana.
