IBCA All-Star Games Scheduled Saturday

The 2017 Illinois Basketbal Coaches Association All-Star Games will be played Saturday, June 10 at Pontiac Township High School.

The Class 1A/2A girls All-Star Game will begin at noon Saturday followed by the Class 3A/4A girls All-Star Game at 2 p.m. The Class 1A/2A boys All-Star Game will begin at 4 p.m. and the Class 3A/4A All-Star Game will begin at 6 p.m.

Several area athletes are members of the All-Star Games. In the Class 1A/2A boys contest, Effingham St. Anthony's Drew Gibson is a South team member.

Other members of the South team include Jered Cain (Patoka), Brandon Trimble (St. Joseph-Ogden), Max Muller (Petersburg PORTA), Cory Miller (Mendon Unity), Justin Botorff (Quincy Notre Dame), Korbyn Personett (Pittsfield), Dylan Dirks (Robinson), Seth Ramsey (Gallatin County), Trevor Davis (Waterloo Gibault), Connor Toennies (Carlyle), Justin Carpenter (Mount Carmel), Carter Cramsey (Quincy Notre Dame), Isaac Collins (Pleasant Plains) and Shane Ganz (Okawville).

The head coach is Jeff Johnston and assistant coaches are Curtis Dion and Mike Smith, all from Athens.

Effingham's Grant Wolfe is a member of the South squad in Class 3A/4A. Other team members include Yaakema Rose (Springfield Lanphier), Javon Pickett (Belleville East), Devin Whitelow (Washington), Brandon McCombs (Jacksonville), Thomas Bell (Cahokia), Dawson Berry (Centralia), Marco Pettinato (Lincoln-Way West), McKyron Tucker (Ottawa), Trevyon Williams (Springfield Southeast), Tyler Dancy (Belleville West), Austin Wills (Benton), Jack Strieker (Breese Central), Jeffrey Boyd (Homewood-Flossmoor) and Jose Grubbs (Joliet Central).

Head coach is Ron Winemiller and assistant is Wade Thomas, both from Benton.

Another local player will be competing in the Class 1A/2A girls All-Star contest and that is Neoga's Jaycie Roy. Other team members of the South squad include Brianna Henke (Mount Olive), Emma Henderson (Tuscola), Hannah Garascia (Sesser-Vallier), Jaylin Haley (Sesser-Vallier), Kelsey Gerdes (Breese Mater Dei), Lauren Vaughn (Fairfield), Morgan Griffith (West Frankfort), Nicole Thurman (Brimfield), Rachel Dawson (Dwight), Rachael Quaritsch (Flanagan-Cornell) and Shayne Smith (Shiloh)
