There was a lot to celebrate Friday night at the Enlow Center at St. Anthony High School.

For one thing, Drew Gibson scored his 1000th career point. For another, Senior Night festivities honored Gibson and the senior Bellettes, cheerleaders and band members.

However, one thing the Bulldogs couldn't celebrate was a victory as Casey-Westfield nipped St. Anthony 51-50 in a contest heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com. Zak videotaped the contest and he will have flashdrives and DVDs available earlier next week.

The contest was fairly close throughout. St. Anthony managed to take 17-12 lead after one quarter and had the lead up to 11 points, but that's when Casey-Westfield managed to climb back into the game, cutting the lead to three in fairly short order. St. Anthony held a 28-25 lead at halftime and led 42-38 after three quarters.

Casey-Westfield, mainly on the back of Ethan Gilbert, outscored the Bulldogs 13-8 in the fourth quarter to win by one. Gilbert scored seven of his game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Warriors to the win. Logan Hawker scored 13 points and Kyle Carver added 10 for the Warriors. Luke Richards scored 8 and Trey Clark 2 points to round out the Casey-Westfield scoring.

Gibson led St. Anthony with 12 points, but they all came in the first half as the Warriors clamped down on him defensively. Jack Nuxoll scored 11 points and Adam Levitt scored all 10 of his points in the second half to help keep the Bulldogs afloat. Alex Deters scored 5, and Cade Walsh, Alex Beesley and Wyatt Lawrence each scored 4 points for St. Anthony.

The Bulldogs made 22 of 50 shots, 44%, including 2 of 11 threes. St. Anthony was 4 of 6 from the line, and committed 10 turnovers.

Casey-Westfield shot 47% from the field, 22 of 47, including 2 of 13 threes. The Warriors made 3 of 5 free throws, and turned the ball over 15 times.

Casey-Westfield closes its regular season with an 11-14 record, while St. Anthony finishes the regular season at 23-5. The Bulldogs begin post-season play Wednesday night at North Clay High School in Louisville. We'll have the game on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com
