Effingham St. Anthony High School fell to Breese Mater Dei, 69-43 in boys basketball Tuesday evening.

Mater Dei stepped out to a quick early lead and led 36-18 at halftime. Mater Dei then had a 17-7 third quarter run.

Drew Gibson was the lone Bulldog player to fniish in double figures with 22. Gibson knocked down two three-pointers.

At Flora

Altamont picked up a non-conference victory over Flora Tuesday evening, 61-42.

The Indians fell behind Flora 20-15 after the opening quarter and trailed 30-28 at halftime. But Altamont came roaring back in the second half with an 11-4 third period to lead 39-34 and had a 22-8 final quarter. Sam Childerson tallied eight in the third quarter.

Childerson finished with 17 to lead Altamont while Mitchell Stevenson added 15 and Evan Cornett 10.

Flora won the junior varsity game 47-30.

At St. Elmo

Brownstown/St. Elmo picked up a National Trail Conference victory over Dieterich 59-54 Tuesday evening.

SEB edged out to a 12-9 opening quarter lead and led 26-22 at halftime. Dieterich came back with an 18-10 third period to push ahead 40-36 going into the final quarter. St. Elmo/Brownstown then got back on track with a 23-14 run to pull out the victory.

Landon Feezel tallied 25 points while Klayton Kroll and Isaac Maxey added 10 each for the winners.

Dieterich was led by Ryan Radloff with 18 and Callaway Campton with 14.

Neoga played host to North Clay (Louisville) in National Trail Conference play and picked up a 76-72 win in double overtime.

The two teams were tied at 18-18 at halftime before North Clay edged ahead 32-27. Neoga came back with a 16-11 third period and tied the score at 43-43. The two teams then scored 12 each in the final period to send the game into overtime. Both again scored 12 each. Neoga then had a 9-5 run in the second overtime to pull out the victory.

The Indians were led by Caleb Hill, a 6-foot junior, with 23 points while Trevor Roy added 14 and Drew Ramert 10.

North Clay was led by Brandon Repking with 21 points, Aleon Rinehart with 18 and Reese Blank with 17.

The Hatchets had three players hit double figures. Josh Overbeck, a 5-foot-10 senior, led the way with 17 points while Nic Hutchinson chipped in with 12 and Blake Nichols added 11.

Teutopolis overcame foul trouble in the first half with help from its subs and built a nine point lead 38-29 at halftime.

The Shoes then went on for a 72-56 win over Robinson. T-town had four players hit the double digit plateau. Brock Bueker led the way with 16 points while Mitch Hardiek had 15, Brant Bueker 13 and Lee Hardiek 10.

The Wooden Shoes had eight three-pointers led by Brant Bueker with three. Bro. Bueker and Lane Belleville led in rebounds with seven each. Lucas Deters chipped in with five boards. Bro. Bueker had three steals.

T-town improves to 21-3 on the season and will play host to Effingham St. Anthony during Senior Night Friday.

Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran edged South Central 59-58 in non-conference action Tuesday evening.

The Cougars held a 10-8 opening quarter lead and led 25-20 at halftime. CORL came back with a 17-4 third quarter to lead 37-29. Then it was South Central's turn as the Cougars came back with a 22-14 final quarter to tie the score and send the game into overtime.

In thte overtime period, CORL had an 8-7 edge to pull out the victory.

South Central was led by Trevor Markley with 20, Trent Geiler, Logan Lotz and Hunter Brandt with 10 points each.
