St. Anthony, Effingham Split Girls Games; Jasper Co. Wins Twice

Effingham and Effingham St. Anthony squared off in girls junior high school basketball play Thursday evening and each picked up a win.

Effingham was a 34-11 winner in seventh-grade play. V. Ramos and S. Myers led the winners with 12 points each. St. Anthony was led by M. Saba with four.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 25-6 winner. Schmidt led St. Anthony with nine points.

At Beecher City

Altamont picked up two victories over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick Thursday evening.

Altamont won the seventh-grade contest 35-5. H. Wolff and Mayhaus tallied eight points each for the winners. BCCH drops to 2-13 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont won 30-12. Biggs tallied 14. BCCH was led by Emma Wehrle with four. BCCH is now 5-10.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County won 54-27. Ariel Richards scored 21 and Grace Hartrich 16 for Jasper County.
