Bulldogs Hand Indians Loss, Tuesday's Area Scores

The St. Anthony Bulldogs led 10-0 before two minutes were gone in the game and went on to defeat the Neoga Indians 75-34 in National Trail Conference basketball action Tuesday night. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com. The contest was also videotaped and Zak will have DVD and flashdrive copies of the game available in the next couple of days.

St. Anthony took full advantage of some early Neoga turnovers to cash in on their end of the floor. It was 18-4 St. Anthony after one quarter and they led 41-13 at halftime after a 23-9 edge in the second period. The Bulldogs had extended the lead to 53-19 after three quarters before outscoring the Indians 22-15 in the fourth quarter.

St. Anthony made 29 of 51 shots, 57%, including seven of 13 threes. The Bulldogs made 10 of 15 foul shots, pulled down 27 rebounds and turned the ball over just seven times.

Neoga made 33% of its shots, 13 of 39, including 1 of 9 threes. The Indians made seven of nine foul shots, turned the ball over 25 times and grabbed 24 rebounds.

Drew Gibson scored 14 points in the first quarter for St. Anthony on his way to a 24-point night playing about half the game. Also in double figures were Jack Nuxoll with 13 points and Alex Deters with 10 points. Also for St. Anthony: Wyatt Lawrence 8, Quentin Milleville 7, Alex Beesley 5, Bryson Wall 4, Jaccob Dust 2 and Adam Levitt 2.

Caleb Hill led Neoga with 14 points. Also for the Indians: Drew Ramert 6, Clayton Butler 3, Mitchell Cornell 3, Zach Gresens 2, Evan Fritcher 2, Jackson Clark 2, and Trevor Roy 2.

St. Anthony improved to 17-1 on the season and are undefeated in the National Trail Conference. Neoga has lost seven straight to slip to 4-13.

St. Anthony won the JV game 64-33. Zach Wortman with 13 and Luke Ludwig with 11 led the JV Bulldogs.
