TAYLORVILLE -- Effingham Junior High School dropped two losses to host Taylorville in boys basketball competition Monday evening.

Taylorville won the seventh-grade game 34-20. Leading the Mustangs was Fox with four points.

In eighth-grade play, Taylorville picked up a 59-51 victory. The Mustangs held a 28-25 halftime lead but Taylorville came back with a 34-23 second half run.

Effingham was led by Duncan with 19, Wolfe with 12 and Woelfer with 10. The Mustangs drop to 10-6.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis picked up victories in both seventh and eighth grade play against Charleston Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes tallied a 55-28 win in seventh-grade play. The Shoes stepped out to a 20-9 opening quarter and never looked back.

K. Althoff tallied 17, Bannick 14 and Bushur 14 for the Shoes.

In the eighth-grade game, Teutopolis edged Charleston 33-31. T-town held an 11-9 opening quarter lead but Charleston came back to lead 18-16 at halftime. T-town fought back with a 10-5 third quarter and then had to hold off a final challenge.

Addis tallied 12 and M. Deters 10 for the winners.

At Newton

Sigel St. Michael downed Newton St. Thomas twice.

St. Michael won the seventh-grade game 43-31. The Sharpshooters then downed St. Thomas 53-19 in the eighth-grade game.

 

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) captured a 36-30 win over Flora in seventh-grade action Monday evening.

Eight players scored for North Clay led by Holden Dawkins with seven points.

In the eighth-grade contest, North Clay fell to Flora 49-38. Ethan Bible led North Clay with 20 points.

Jasper County fell to Lawrenceville in seventh-grade action, 38-36. Meinhart tallied 15 for Jasper County.

In the eighth-grade contest, Palestine/Hutsonville was a 49-31 winner over Jasper County. Geier led Jasper County with nine points.
