EHS, St. Anthony, T-town Teams in Top 10 Polls

The latest Associated Press basketball polls prove that basketball in this area is some of the best in the state.

Effingham, Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis all have boys or girls teams that have broken into the Top Ten of the Associated Press basketball polls.

In the boys polls, Effingham St. Anthony sits in fourth place in Class 1A with a 14-1 record, earning 79 points. It's the first time this season the Bulldogs have entered the poll.

Colfax Ridgeview sits at the top with seven first-place votes, a 13-0 record and 109 points.

Teutopolis is sixth in the Class 2A poll with a 9-1 record and 70 points. The Wooden Shoes were previously No. 7 and moved up a spot.

Chicago Uplift earned eight first-place votes and is 11-3 with 114 points at the top spot.

Effingham is in the others receiving 12 or more votes in Class 3A along with Centralia and Peoria Manual.

Springfield Lanphier sits at the top of the poll with seven first place votes, an 11-0 record and 113 points.

In the girls poll, Effingham is No. 8 in Class 3A. This is the first time the Hearts have been in the polls this season. EHS has a 15-1 record and 32 points.

Bethalto Civic Memorial is No. 1 with six first place votes, a 15-0 record and 121 points.

Teutopolis sits at No. 5 and also entered the poll for the first time this season. The Wooden Shoes are 16-2 on the season with 53 points.
