Effingham St. Anthony and Stewardson-Strasburg split junior high B basketball games Monday evening.

Stew-Stras was a winner in the seventh-grade B contest 35-21. Stew-Stras (9-7) stepped out to a 16-4 opening half lead. Vonderheide tallied eight for the winners. Kemme led St. Anthony with nine.

In the eighth-grade B contest, St. Anthony claimed a 39-24 win. Willenborg and Adams scored seven points each for the Bullpups. Stew-Stras was led by Slifer with 14 points. Stew-Stras drops to 1-12.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis picked up two wins over Casey-Westfield Monday evening.

T-town was a 40-32 winner in seventh-grade action. The Wooden Shoes held a 22-13 first half lead but Casey-Westfield came back with an 11-4 third period to pull within 26-24 going into the final quarter. T-town then tallied a 14-8 final period.

Bushur led the way for the Shoes with 14 points while M. Althoff and K. Althoff scored eight each.

In eighth-grade play, T-town easily took a 38-7 victory. The Shoes led 21-3 at halftime and never looked back.

Addis tallied 15 and M. Deters 14 for the winners.

At Newton

Newton St. Thomas and Effingham Sacred Heart split victories Monday evening.

St. Thomas was a 33-23 winner in sevneth-grade play. Leading St. Thomas were Gus Bierman with 10 points and Mason Schafer with nine. Leading Sacred Heart were Feldhake with 10 and McDevitt with three.

In the eighth-grade game, the Shamrocks won 43-25. Sacred Heart was led by by Tegeler with 13 and Wallace with eight.

St. Thomas was led by Jaime Zerrusen with 11, Drew Buerster with four and Collin Dosey with four.

 

At Altamont

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Altamont Lutheran both nabbed a win Monday evening.

CHBC claimed the seventh-grade game 72-43.

In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont Lutheran was a 64-46 winner.

 

At Martinsville

Jasper County beat Martinsville twice Monday evening.

Jasper County ran off to a 16-6 opening quarter lead in seventh-grade play and won 40-20. Schafer tallied 13 and Tharp 10 for the winners who improve to 8-5.

In the eighth-grade game, Jasper County edged Martinsville 29-27. Jasper County led 15-9 at halftime but Martinsville came back with an 18-14 second half only to fall short.

Geier tallied eight and Zumbahlen seven for Jasper County, now 1-12 on the season.
