8th Grade Girls Regional Results--Dec. 1st

8th grade girls basketball regionals are wrapping up, for the most part, tonight, but one area school has already captured a regional championship.

Sigel St. Michael won the 8-1A regional at Sacred Heart Thursday night. The Sharpshooters defeated Paris Lakecrest 37-17 to claim the title and advance to sectional action next Wednesday.

For Sigel St. Michael: Bueker 11, Niebrugge 7, Budde 6, Jones 5, Ramert 4, Swearingen 2, Hill 2. 

As to other regional action, Altamont will take on St. Anthony for the championship of the 8-2A regional at Louisville. Altamont defeated North Clay 30-12 Thursday night, while St. Anthony defeated Brownstown 25-18. The regional championship game will be played tonight at 6:15pm.

Also tonight, Stewardson-Strasburg will take on Beecher City at 6pm for the championship of the Central A&M 8-2A regional, Teutopolis will play Lawrenceville Parkview at 6pm for the title at the Teutopolis 8-3A regional, and Effingham will play Charleston at 6pm for the championship of the Charleston 8-4A regional. Effingham defeated Mattoon 37-33 in semifinal action Thursday night, while Charleston pounded Champaign Jefferson 45-18.

Diveley led Effingham with 21 points. Also for Effingham: Armstrong 12, Arend 2, and Rieman 2. The Lady Mustangs improved to 12-8 with the win.
