Big Blue Men Lose Wild One to Greenville

The Millikin men lost to Greenville College 145-128 in the CCIW vs. SLIAC Challenge played on November 19 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.

The game featured a combined 163 shots from the field, 82 rebounds, 57 turnovers, 76 fouls and 99 free throw attempts.

Millikin’s leading scorer was Jack Simpson (Springfield, Mo., Kickapoo H.S.) with a career high 27 points including going 13-15 from the free throw line.  Freshmen Zach Fisher (Monticello, H.S.) and Jordan Cunningham (Danville, H.S.) each had career nights scoring 19 points each.  Leighton Lark (Effingham, H.S.) had a career high 14 points and Tyler Pygon (Orland Park, Providence Catholic H.S.) added 13.  Cunningham added a team nine rebounds and two blocks.

The Millikin men lost to Westminster College 80-54 on November 18 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.  The game was part of the 2016 CCIW vs. SLIAC Challenge.

Pygon led Millikin with 15 points.  Freshman Logan Bader (Aurora, H.S.) scored 12 and Nathan Lovekamp (Cerro Gordo, H.S.) chipped in 10.  Bader and Korbin Farmer (Columbia, H.S.) each had five rebounds.

Millikin opened the season with an 87-63 loss at Aurora University on November 15.

Two freshmen led the way for the Big Blue with Fisher scoring 14 points and forward Bader adding 12.  Junior Michael Charles II (Chicago, Lindbloom H.S.) had 10 points and five assists.

The Big Blue will be back at the Griswold Center on Tuesday, November 22 hosting Principia College at 7 p.m.
